Set it up right
Tighten to lock — three simple steps.
The side panels clamp the seat and footrest once every bolt is fully tightened. A loose bolt is the most common reason a board can slide, so take a minute to lock it in.
Slide boards into matching grooves
Same groove on both sides, so each board sits level.
Tighten every bolt fully
Use the Allen key until the panels press firmly on the boards. Push and pull the seat's front edge — it shouldn't move.
Re-check and re-tighten
After 2 weeks, then regularly and whenever you change a height.

What ages is the Fornel chair for?
On its own, the chair is for children from 3 years old up to adults, and it holds up to 200 lb. With the Fornel Baby Set (sold separately) it works as a high chair from 6 months — once your baby can sit up unassisted — to 36 months.
What's in the Baby Set?
A contoured backrest, a front safety bar with a center crotch post, a feeding tray with a removable see-through tray cover, two extension gliders for extra backward stability, and mounting screws. It attaches with the Allen key and lifts off when your child outgrows it. It's $49, or $34 when you buy it together with a chair.
Do I need the 5-point harness?
For babies and young toddlers using the Baby Set, we recommend it: the harness keeps your child secured in the seat. It's made to fit the Fornel chair and costs $15. Always stay with your child during meals.
How much weight does it hold?
The chair holds up to 200 lb, so older kids, teens and adults can use it too.
How long does assembly take?
Typically under 30 minutes. Everything you need, including the Allen key, is in the box, and you can download the instructions (PDF). Tighten every bolt fully so the seat and footrest are clamped firmly, and re-tighten them 2 weeks after assembly.
How do I adjust it as my child grows?
Loosen the bolts, slide the seat and footrest into new grooves (the same groove on both sides), then tighten every bolt fully again. The seat is at a good height when your child's elbows are level with the table top; the footrest is right when their feet rest flat with thighs on the seat.
How do I clean it?
Wipe it with a clean damp cloth, then dry it. We don't recommend detergents. The Baby Set's tray cover lifts off and rinses clean.
Will it fit my table?
Fornel is 35.4 in tall and made for standard dining tables, which are typically 28–30 in high. It isn't designed for counter- or bar-height tables.
